As predicted the new IFNA rankings are out and yes PNG has slipped to 17th. However, the recent Nations Cup in Singapore did not quite give the Scots and Welsh as big a boost in the rankings as first thought, as they shared a win each against each other.
Singapore also fared poorly due to a loss to a lowly ranked Tanzania, slipping back to 19th and losing ranking points to now have a total of 48 points.
The good news for PNG is that we are still only 1 win away from getting back to 13th spot, and 3 wins from 12th.
It also appears some of the higher ranked countries may be opting to protect their rankings by not playing games. Eventually, this strategy proves not to be a smart one.
